What You'll Do

We are seeking an Environmental Marine Research Scientist – Oceanography with a PhD in marine environmental science research to contribute specialist bio-physical expertise to multidisciplinary research and consulting projects, with a particular focus on marine computational modelling. You will join our oceanography team, collaborating with multi-disciplinary science teams across the Institute, contributing to scientifically robust outcomes that support both client and research objectives.

This role is well suited to an experienced applied scientist who enjoys tackling complex problems, contributing to project delivery, and growing their leadership and funding experience within a supportive, collaborative environment.

What You'll Bring

  • PhD in marine environmental science research (e.g. oceanography, marine science, environmental engineering, marine physics, or a related field), ideally with at least 3 years' relevant experience in bio-physical applied research and consultancy.
  • Experience in coding solutions to scientific problems (e.g. in Python, Matlab, R) and using modelling frameworks.
  • Demonstrable skills in some of the following: physical marine data analysis, numerical ocean modelling, Lagrangian particle tracking, satellite remote sensing, and biochemical processes.
