Job Description

The employee will participate in the Louisiana Sea Grant Aquaculture Internship Program, a workforce development program designed to provide hands-on training and practical industry experience in aquaculture. Under the direction of Louisiana Sea Grant, the employee will participate in aquaculture training activities at LSU and the Louisiana Sea Grant Oyster Research Laboratory before completing an extended work-based learning experience with an industry partner in finfish, aquaponics, or oyster aquaculture.

The employee will perform aquaculture-related duties appropriate to the assigned industry operation, which may include animal husbandry and feeding, water quality monitoring, maintenance of aquaculture systems and equipment, harvesting and processing activities, farm or facility maintenance, and recordkeeping. The employee will follow applicable safety procedures, work schedules, and supervisory instructions; maintain professional conduct and attendance; participate in required Louisiana Sea Grant program activities and training; and complete applicable program documentation and evaluations.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
